What were you doing when the application crashed?
I just quit the application. I saw that this bug is considered solved in launchpad (if I remember) I don't understand why. The problem still exists. I have Ubuntu Edgy, updated 2 days ago or so. uname -r = 2.6.17-10-386

The fix is known and available since long, but the maintainers haven't uploaded a fixed gnome-vfs package. I suggest you complain to them.
