Description Richard Tobin 2006-11-20 16:35:46 UTC
Please describe the problem:
xml:space="preserve" on an element in the source document should take precedence over xsl:strip-space in the stylesheet.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start with an identity stylesheet
2. Add the instruction <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>
3. Apply it to a document containing an element with xml:space="preserve"

Actual results:
Whitespace in the element is stripped

Expected results:
Whitespace in the element should be preserved

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Comment 1 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 11:01:08 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxslt/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
