GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 374946
killing gnome-panel breaks gwget notification icon
Last modified: 2007-02-03 19:17:15 UTC
Please describe the problem: This problem comes in several forms. Situation 1: gwget is running in the tray with no associated window. when the panel exits, gwget opens the download window, but there is no notification icon when the gnome-session relaunches the panel. In addition I found it crashed when I the cancelled a download, though I couldn't reproduce this at all later. Situation 2: gwget is running in the tray with the download window open. when the panel is killed, both the download window and the notification icon disappear and the process continues to run in the terminal it is attached to. Steps to reproduce: 1. Run gwget 2. Start a download 3. Close the window 4. Kill gnome-panel alternatively, 1. Run gwget from a terminal 2. Start a download 3. Keep the window open 4. Kill gnome-panel Actual results: When followed these instructions leave a gwget window with no corresponding notification icon or a gwget process with no window or icon respectively. Expected results: I would expect gwget to stay "minimised" on the panel even after the panel crashes or is killed. Does this happen every time? Yes, there is never a gwget notification icon after the panel is killed. Other information: This was with gwget 0.98.1. I have yet to compile a package of version 0.98.2.
