Description Jeffery Small 2006-11-11 05:35:11 UTC
I have Alt-B as a shortcut for gaussian blur.

I use Select by Color to select the sky region in a picture and set the selection mode to Add. Once I have made the complete selection I apply the blur by typing Alt-B. The problem is that as soon as I press the Alt key the selection mode is reset to Replace instead of Add. The next time I try to use Select by Color I find that the mode is not what I want and I have to manually reset it.

This is a tricky problem, but I don't see the advantage to using Alt to force a permanent change in the mode. You press Ctrl to temporarily toggle the mode to Subtract, but this is reset as soon as you release Ctrl and that is very nice. It seems logical that pressing Alt should only temporarily toggle the mode to Replace. Otherwise you end up with shortcut conflicts like what I describe above.

You simply found a bug, this is not the intended behavior.

This is causes by the wrong fix for bug #349338, reopening that one
and duplicating this one.
