Description Sven Arvidsson 2006-11-04 22:03:57 UTC
This bug was reported to the Debian BTS.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=378027

"It usually happens that the video ratio doesn't fit the screen. For
example, when looking to a 16:9 video on a 4:3 screen, or widescreen
(2.35:1) video on a widescreen (16:10) screen.

In such cases, it would be nice if it were possible to display the
subtitles in the black part of the screen instead of over the video."

This would be very nice. Confirming as enhancement.

Comment 3 Bastien Nocera 2012-03-29 12:53:12 UTC
The problem actually is that the subtitles are in the same pipeline as the video playback, and draw on the video. The video pipeline has no access to the black part of the video, as it's drawn by us. The duplicate bug is what we should do to implement this.
