GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 363600
crash in Evolution: when I launch it
Last modified: 2007-04-12 20:59:35 UTC
What were you doing when the application crashed? when I launch it Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-10-02 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0 Memory status: size: 116961280 vsize: 0 resident: 116961280 share: 0 rss: 25292800 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 1161332923 rtime: 0 utime: 105 stime: 0 cutime:96 cstime: 0 timeout: 9 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 0 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/evolution-2.8' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Does this happen always? Also, what's the exact Evolution Ubuntu package version? Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Could you please install some debugging packages [1] and reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the "details", now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks! [1] debugging packages for evolution, evolution-data-server and gtkhtml, plus debugging packages for some basic GNOME libs. More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/DistroSpecificInstructions
hello, Not each time. version : evolution 2.8.1-0ubuntu4 evolution-data-server 1.8.1-0ubuntu3 evolution-data-server-common 1.8.1-0ubuntu3 sorry, I can't reproduce the bug yet. I installed the debugging package. I'm waiting for the next bug-buddy message. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. :) evolution 2.8.1-0ubuntu4, is that the version you already had installed when you last experienced this crash?
I have a little doubt, but I think so
OK, so we definitely need a better stacktrace...
I followed the link to have a better trace, and that tells me to copy paste from bug-buddy. I'm not sure there's more informations. (In reply to comment #6) > I followed the link to have a better trace, > and that tells me to copy paste from bug-buddy. > I'm not sure there's more informations. True, unfortunately, that's about the same. Looking at the last trace it does not seem like the debugging packages are installed. We do need them. Please see comment 1, especially note [1] about which debugging packages are required, and the link on how to do so. Tried hunting the exact packages you should install. I'm kind of sure these are the ones: evolution-dbg, evolution-data-server-dbg, libgtkhtml3.8-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg, libgtk2.0-0-dbg
