Description Duncan Lithgow 2006-10-16 09:16:41 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Evolution runs on an ext3 partition. My files to attach are on a fat32 partition, but I've never had this problem before. After writing the email and attaching (or so I thought) some files, two w32 EXE files and a PDF I clicked on send and get the error message below - which does not help me fix the problem.

-----------------
Error while performing operation.

DATA command failed: Illegal Attachment l22sm361487nfc
-----------------

Steps to reproduce:
1. start a new email
2. attach a real w32 executable file (empty .exe files do not produce this bug)
3. try and send the mail with attachments

Actual results:
Failure to send

Expected results:
Success in sending

Does this happen every time?
yes

Other information:
I have evolution-dbg installed, but don't know how to use it to generate more detailed information.

your SMTP server is likely configured to not allow sending of exe attachments (typically trojans and/or viruses)
Comment 2 Duncan Lithgow 2006-10-17 11:40:57 UTC
I will look into that. Either way evolutions stock message is not very useful. I don't know enough about possible causes to suggest a better text. I'll start a rfe instead.
