crash in Evolution: I just opened Evolution ...

What were you doing when the application crashed? Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Can you get us one with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Can you reproduce this?
Hi, before Evolution crashed, it opened the first time correctly and downloaded some e-mails from my many accounts, but then complained that the Inbox was not correct even after a sync; sorry I don't remember exactly the error message; then I closed Evolution, run the Update Manager and updated my Edgy installation; then I rebboted, started Evolution again and then it crashed right away before even downloading any mail. And then the Bug buddy opens up the bug window..etc.. I also tried to see if deleting some data files could help Evolution to not crash during start, but no one helped : 1) evolution/mail/local/Inbox*.* 2) evolution/mail/config/et-expanded-mbox:_home_robban_.evolution_mail_local#Inbox 3) camel-cert.db Basically I went after the files that were modified today. Any idea ? any file I could wipe out, after backup, that could help ? Maybe I should deinstall and reinstall Evolution ?

Re-installing the application is unlikely to fix anthing. Removing ~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox.ev-summary should solve the "even after a sync" error message, if it indeed mentioned the "Inbox" folder. The *.ev-summary files are indexing files only. Please note that the files without such extensions (like Inbox itself) hold your mail! Now back to the stacktrace issue... ;) Unfortunately, that is not a stacktrace but just some gdb spewage until the actual crash. To gather a stacktrace, enter the command "thread apply all bt" at the gdb prompt, after the application crashed. However, you don't even need to run Evo inside gdb. It should be perfectly fine to simply reproduce the crash -- when bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the "details". Rather than letting bug-buddy report a new bug, please copy that stacktrace and paste it here. Please note: You need to install debugging packages first. See comment 1 for a link that also contains distro specific instructions. Without these debugging packages, all we get will be just like the original stacktrace. Thanks.
Hi Karsten, so I did some more homework on the problem to try to get some useful stacktrace..;-) I did this after reading your first link you mentioned : I installed the following packages : evolution-dbg, libglib2.0-0-dbg, libgtk2.0-0-dbg, and libgnomevfs2-0-dbg. Then I reproduced the crash and this is what I got in the Bugbuddy pop-up window : P.s: I see that there are many steps without symbols, should I install some more dbg packages/libraries, but which ? P.s. 2 : I'm at home available from 19:00 UTC normally and I got ICQ (60169182), MSN (robban959@hotmail.com) and Yahoo messenger ( clonti62) so if you want try to contact me tomorrow evening for some "live" debugging ! .............................................................................................................
