Please describe the problem:
Rui Lopes <rgl AT ruilopes dot com>, reported he gets a translucent window when the expander is expanded in gtk-demo.
The bug was found using VMWare but not reproducible on areal PC, nor drawing on SDL nor fbdev.

I was able to reproduce this by myself too; notice also the trashed surface in the attached png.
