Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-09-25 08:58:57 UTC
That issue has been described on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/61899

"Create a file called .directory in any directory, and enter "[Desktop Entry]" without the quotes as the first line. Navigate to this containing directory and see the file displayed even when 'Show Hidden Files' is not ticked.

These .directory files are usually created by KDE.

Same problem under Gentoo and also with Mandriva:

Thanks a lot for fixing this

I don't necessarily agree that not showing them is right in the file chooser.
The "Hidden" flag is about displaying the item in the menu, not about displaying
the desktop file in the file chooser.

works correctly using the current gtk version, closing the bug
