GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 357194
Add colours to complement numbers
Last modified: 2006-09-26 19:49:57 UTC
Tetravex would look a whole lot nicer if the tile segments were coloured. This would also help people who have better colour discrimination than character descrimination. There are approximately 10 base colours in http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines to use (with the highlight and shadow values provided). This does raise potential problems with themes.
This sounds like a cool idea, and it would be really interesting to try it out. I guess it should be user-configurable whether numbers or colours are used. Some people are colour-blind or would prefer playing with numbers. Other possibilities would be to use some kind of icons or different numbers, such as roman or arabic numbers. Anything that would contribute towards making the game more fun to play...
Created attachment 73272 [details] [review] Provides Cairo support and colouring Patch against CVS 20060923 (same as 2.16). This patch includes the changes in #357179. You can see a screenshot of it here: http://bobthegnome.blogspot.com/2006/09/more-tetravex-tinkering.html
The new screenshot looks great. One suggestion from me would be to consider using a background colour or some kind of background graphics pattern, instead of the dull default grey background in gnotravex. Let's make gnotravex look good :)
I agree about the background - perhaps a felt card table colour like aisleriot.
Thanks for the patch Robert. I have applied the latest patch to CVS now. At some later time, I think we need a felt card table background for gnotravex.
