GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 356927
Evolution Mail: Evolution 2.8.0: Connect...
Last modified: 2006-09-26 14:05:20 UTC
What were you doing when the application crashed? Evolution 2.8.0: Connection to IMAP-Server with unsigned SSL-Certificate impossible; When I try to connect this message appears: "Failed to connect to IMAP server lorifan.homeip.net in secure mode: SSL negotiations failed". This worked without problems in Evolution 2.6. Connection to a SMTP-Server with unsigned SSL-Ceritificate works without problems and also in 2.6. Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) Gnome Release: 2.16.0 2006-09-04 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0
Sorry, not a application crash, accidentially sent with bug-buddy. Connecting to this server is very important for me! Thanks, Marcel Juhnke.
marcel, check your account settings because the code has changed between 2.6 and 2.8 - in 2.6, we had fallback code which was removed in 2.8, so evo 2.8 will fail if the connection type is not supported by the server while 2.6 just fell back to use plain mode instead of a secure mode.
I've found this: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/59632 in launchpad. That worked for me. Best regards, Marcel
