GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 355401
clicks/typing sometimes not accepted but focus unaffected
Last modified: 2006-09-11 18:03:30 UTC
Since updating to GNOME 2.16, metacity sporadically stops accepting clicks and typing to any window, although I can mouse over different windows to change the focus. This occurs at least once every few minutes, sometimes multiple times in a minute. If I roll up and roll down any window, it nearly always works around this and I can then type again. The programs I'm running are 2 gnome-terminals, each with 4 tabs, Firefox and Thunderbird. This is on a Gentoo PowerPC system using GCC 4.1.1, glibc 2.4, CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -g -w". I've also heard a report of the same issue from a Crux developer on an x86 system. But I've been unable to reproduce it on my own x86 system. I'm unsure what more information I can provide to help debug this.
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. I'll be releasing a new version with the fix soon... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 354422 ***
Thanks, Elijah! I searched, even for bugs with focus in the title, but that description didn't seem to match the bug.
