GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 355055
Shift or Ctrl keys conflict when selection/crop tool active
Last modified: 2008-01-15 14:08:24 UTC
With the selection/crop tool active, pressing Shift or Ctrl toggles the "Make Square" and "Expand From Center" options. This conflicts with other intended actions (either user bound - I have Shift-C bound to snap-to-canvas-edge) or standard. i.e. Shift Adds to selection, but now also Makes Square. Try to make a 0.7 aspect ratio selection. Then try to add a 0.7 aspect to the first selection (by holding Shift) - note that the second selection is now square (unless you press Shift, then press and hold shift again). This might be a dup of bug #120973 - I'll let you decide.
I can confirm this. My OS is WinXP. When I use for instance Rect select to select objects I like to press Shift / Ctrl to scroll the image to right or left / zoom in or out with my mouse and after that I have always to press Shift or Ctrl again to swich "Make Square" and "Expand From Center" options off or on to fit my needs.
Resolving as duplicate because i already resolved the newer bug as FIXED, actually it should be the other way around, but oh well... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 355302 ***
