The abbreviated group names would be much more useful
to me if the last two segments of the group name were
used. (Possibly it could even be configurable to any
number of segments.) With one-segment abbreviations,
too many groups abbreviate to x.y.z.general, or
something equally unhelpful.

This would be nice.
Comment 2 Duncan 2007-07-08 10:03:24 UTC
Just a supportive note/vote. This would be useful to many people.

Another vote of support. The popular Gmane mail-to-news gateway has a lot of groups like a.b.c.users and x.y.z.devel, so this feature would be a simple way to distinguish between them.
