Description Uri David Akavia 2006-08-15 14:26:49 UTC
When I log out from GNOME while having the save sessions automatically checkbox UNCHECKED, I get several applications to open (despite the fact they weren't running).

I have an Intel 64bit (Pentium D), and am Running the Debian amd64 distribution.

Steps to reproduce:
1)Unmark the "Automatically save changes to session" check box of the gnome-session capplet.
2)Close all applications including the gnome-session capplet.
3)Log out of GNOME
4)Restart GNOME

Expected results:
GNOME will start, with the applications that started last time, showing me a blank desktop.

Actual results:
The gnome-session capplet and Nautilus (with my home directory) open. They weren't open before, they weren't part of the session when I used "save changes automatically".
In addition, approximately half the times I get an error that states:
"There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in."

Could you try 2.16 to see if it still happens there?
Also, it would be helpful to trace gnome-session to see exactly
what is hanging. I suspect this is an esd problem, and not
strictly speaking a session manager problem... but we'd need
some evidence to conclude this.

Oops, sorry -- I meant to attach that comment to bug #322674, not this one.

The settings daemon error is most probably unrelated (it's probably just a crash).

The other stuff is weird. I can't reproduce. If you can still reproduce when upgrading to 2.16, can you add more information to bug #301949 ?
