Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: general Bugzilla-Version: 2.14.1 BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.14.1) Description: Description of the crash: Steps to reproduce the crash: 1. Camera mass storage auto mounts. 2. Unmount volume, but immediately remounts. 3. Eventually just unplug device and nautilus crashed. Expected Results: How often does this happen? ------- Bug created by bug-buddy at 2006-08-14 21:26 ------- Unknown version 2.14.1 in product nautilus. Setting version to "2.14.x".
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for taking the time to report this. Unfortunately, the stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Could you please help fixing this by installing some debugging packages [1], start nautilus as normal, and try to reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the "details", now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks in advance! [1] debugging packages for nautilus, glib, gtk, pango, gnome-vfs and libgnome(ui), as far as provided by your distributor. Ok, I installed the debug packages - then recreated the crash in Nautilus by doing the following: 1. place audio cd in drive 2. open Nautilus 3. in the tree (left side) click the arrow next to Audio CD 4. *poof* and this is the stacktrace: Stacktrace: Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Chris: Thanks for providing that trace, however it could be a different issue, as your description on how to trigger the crash is pretty different from the original description. Your crash is bug 320020 which should have been fixed a few days ago. Can you reproduce the original crash by trying out the steps that Kevin provided here?
Sorry, I have no camera.... I originally submitted this crash report here -> http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396227 I was then informed that it was a dup of this report (351366) and asked to follow the instructions here.... I followed the instructions - and was informed that my crash was actually a dup of bug 320020 - and that it has been resolved(?) if so, how do I fix it?

Dear reporters, could you please help fixing this by installing some debugging packages [1], start the application as normal, and try to reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the 'Details', now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks in advance! [1] Please install debug packages for nautilus, glib2, gtk2, pango, gnome-vfs2, libgnome, and libgnomeui. Ubuntu: nautilus-dbg, libglib2.0-0-dbg, libgtk2.0-0-dbg, libpango1.0-0-dbg, libgnomevfs2-0-dbg, libgnome2-0-dbgsym, and libgnomeui-0-dbg. Fedora Core 6 and OpenSuSE 10.2: nautilus-debuginfo, glib2-debuginfo, gtk2-debuginfo, pango-debuginfo, gnome-vfs2-debuginfo, libgnome-debuginfo, and libgnomeui-debuginfo. SuSE provides a debuginfo package repository, that users can add to their installation sources, under http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/repo/debug/suse/ . More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces

I keep getting "repeated notification" emails regarding this bug. I originally reported a bug that was identified as - Bug 416452. Your responses were rather cryptic to me but it seems that this was classified as a duplicate. And perhaps that is why I now get notification of a Bug that I did not report. From reading the thread for this bug I do not think it describes what I reported. I an using a PC with Desktop Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy installed and was attempting to connect to a share on my Ubuntu SERVER. That share was a CD -- when I tried to mount the share it was then that the Bug occurred -- and a report window popped up asking me if I wanted to report the Bug. I did so. I am now not sure of there is anything more you need from me -- perhaps to install the debug packages? If someone will let me know what you need I will try to do it. Thanks, \\Chuck
Hi Chuck, i marked your bug report 416452 as a duplicate of this one here, because the stacktraces (that cryptic information which parts of the program crashed) are identical. We are still missing information to find out the *exact* place where this crash happens, that's why this bug report is in "NEEDINFO" state. in comment 48 here ( http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351366#c48 ) i ask for installing some debug packages and reproducing the crash, yes. so if you find some time for it, we would gladly appreciate this. you wrote that "Your responses were rather cryptic to me" - can you elaborate this a bit? we're always interested in user feedback and being less cryptic and "techy". ;-)

Juan: Thanks for helping! The stacktrace that you posted is exactly the same as in bug 320020, which has been fixed a few weeks ago. Now i wonder if this whole bug report 351366 here has been also fixed by fixing bug 320020 - it would be great if other reporters could also report a stacktrace here after installing debug packages, otherwise we will have to wait for 2.18 reports to find out if this has been also fixed. :-/
