firefox has just been upgraded from 1.5 to 2.0beta1 for edgy, the issue is probably due to the new version

increasing priority and severity due to the amount of crashes.
Created attachment 70813 [details] code example to get the issue That example is similar to what evolution does (to build with "gcc nssinit.c -o nssinit `pkg-config --cflags --libs mozilla-nss`"), it works fine with firefox 1.5 but not 1.9, might be some firefox API change and the code needs to be updated or that's a firefox issue

The fault is, I believe, due to a dependency issue with libnss3.
my story: ubuntu 6.10 unstable (edgy) after last update from official repository about 8:00 UTC today, Evolution 2.8 crashes after start
*** Bug 351282 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
workaround: use "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/firefox evolution" to start evolution
*** Bug 351278 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
workaround for dummies: 1. find e-mail link (clickable link that opens "compose meassage" window) on any web page in Firefox 2. click it (you must see an opened evolution compose window) 3. try to start evolution as you always start it (evolution must start correct) 4. close window that was opened by clicking a link
