when opening the same file twice (using nautilus) gedit suggest the follwing: 
"The file /XXX is already open. Gedit opened the file in a read only way". 

I think it should just focus the right tab. 

Other information:
i guess this would be most usefull for people like me that keep forgetting which files they have already opened in the editor.
