I got a crash in ml_tree_value_at().  Unfortunately, I wasn't at the console at the time, so I don't know exactly what caused it.  It seems likely that it was periodic downloading of email.

At any rate, looking at the code, the reason seems obvious.  Backtrace and patch attached, for what I believe to be the fix.
