GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 349677
manpage rendered wrong
Last modified: 2010-12-20 16:09:18 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+bug/50318 "Yelp renders several manpages wrong. For example, in the kill manpage, the table of signals is rendered as floating text and the headings contain ".B" markers. http://librarian.launchpad.net/3086771/scr.png Screenshot of the kill manpage ..."
Other Ubuntu bug about manpage rendering issue: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+bug/67308 "Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Help 2. Type "man fbdev" into search field, hit Enter 3. Get fbdev manpage 4. Notice how the quotes (") are substituted with "q" symbol. I'm using Edgy beta ... http://librarian.launchpad.net/4918751/Screenshot.png Screenshot demonstrating the bug"
This bug is present in GNOME 2.18 beta 2 also as available in Ubuntu 7.04 alpha.

The bug appears to be the same I have seen lately (I've only just started to use Yelp). I've uploaded a two screenshots of renderings of XVisualInfo -- one from Yelp and one from man. This was made on Fedora 7 (Yelp version 2.18.1)
The part with fbdev(4) being incorrectly rendered is showing here too, but it's not a Yelp bug, as Konqueror can't display correctly fbdev(4) either. RHEL 5.1 clones, GNOME 2.16.
Fixed by Rupert's gutting of the man-parsing code.
