GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 346893
the popup window is too small
Last modified: 2006-07-21 22:50:41 UTC
it should be larger, and ideally resizable. I kind of think that every window that contains a scrolled window needs to be resizable so that the user has a chance to enlarge the area and make the scrollbars go away. Denying him that is just teasing...
the window resizes itself when receiving the definitions from the dictionary source. if it doesn't, it's a bug (I've received notifications of that, but I can't get it to reproduce either with the stable or HEAD versions). I can't make the definitions text reflow with the dialog, unless I remove the formatting done by the dictionary, which would be a refression for some.
How about making the window resizable ?
it's a docked window: it's not meant to be resized by the user in the same way that the clock applet window with calendar + tasks is not meant to be resized by the user, or like the drawer applet is meant to resize itself when the icon size changes.
I claim that it would be useful to make this docked window behave differently that the clock window, if only to give the user a way out if things go wrong, like in the attached screenshot

that is the bug that I was referring to. it seems that I cannot reproduce it in any way, searching through various dictionaries.
it seems that I've been successful to reproduce the bug. it happens if the window is exposed before there's a definition, so it means that the resizing function is not called after that. I'll fix this ASAP.
