GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 344856
The SBL Hebrew font is not displayed correctly.
Last modified: 2018-05-22 12:18:05 UTC
Please describe the problem: Pango doesn't display correctly biblical hebrew text using the "SBL Hebrew" font (see http://www.sbl-site.org/Resources/default.aspx, download for free from: http://www.sbl-site.org/Fonts/SBLHebrew-Distributionv1.12.zip). (Consonants are rendered OK, but vowels and accents are displaced.) Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
Created attachment 67325 [details] Incorrect shaping using the SBH Hebrew font
Created attachment 67326 [details] The same text with "Ezra SIL" font (rendered correctly)
Created attachment 67327 [details] SBL Hebrew with OpenOffice.org 2 OO2 (using the ICU library?) renders the text with SBL Hebrew much better (at least readable)...
Created attachment 81122 [details] SBL Hebrew font version 1.07 under gedit. It appears the problem is connected to recent SBL Hebrew versions. The attached screenshot shows the rendering with SBL Hebrew vesion 1.07 under gedit, which is perfect as far as I can see.

Dov, Now that we have merged external HarfBuzz branch into Pango, do you feel like testing SBL Hebrew?
