Description Jose Alberto 2006-05-23 10:32:37 UTC
the idea is to add in the sidebar a panel that can collapse with all removable
devices in the system.
This devices can work in 2 modes:
- Simple mode: is a normal removable devices with picts/videos that you can
watch in f-spot, f-spot will keep all the metadata info in the local DDBB so the
picts will stay in the device.
- full mode: the picst and the metadata are in the removable device, so you can
open this removable device in any other f-spot and keep all the metadata.

Essentially the same sentiment was expressed on the Debian bug tracker (at http://bugs.debian.org/404068):

"It would be nice if f-spot would be able manage multiple databases, one
on the local hard disk and one on a mount point that it knows isn't
always going to be available (which could be an external hard disk, a
remote server, a CD or DVD drive, or whatnot). That way, I could store
and manage my pictures on my laptop, but still use the loads and loads
of disk space that are available on my home server, _when I am at home_.

Currently, I cannot do that, unless I store all my pictures on the
network server (which would prevent me from using f-spot when the
network server isn't available, e.g., when I'm out taking pictures, or
on holiday, or whatnot)---or unless I export my pictures when at home,
and keep a second f-spot database on the network server, with remote X
or something; but that's suboptimal."
