GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 341837
Inacurrate progress bar for copies over dav
Last modified: 2008-09-06 19:08:02 UTC
[ forwarded from http://bugs.debian.org/352018 ] I am using nautilus on a regular basis to upload files to a webdav server (https). Usually it's only one tarball of a few megabytes. nautilus would show progress bar as shown in screenieNautilusFalseProgress.png from the start whereas in reality it would take about five minutes to transfer the file. It appears that the progress is calculated based on the number of files rather than the file sizes and transfer speed. Secondly, nautilus has redraw problems and sometimes blocks the whole desktop (not just other nautilus windows, but say a firefox window as well). It would be great if this could be improved as it presents as major usability issue when an application appears to be hanging for minutes.
Known bug :( Totally related (dup?) to bug #306026. I mean leaving this open for no because maybe there is a way to work around here, and make the progess bar work, although I totally doubt it.
gnome-vfs has been deprecated and superseded by gio/gvfs since GNOME 2.22, hence mass-closing many of the gnome-vfs requests/bug reports. This means that gnome-vfs is NOT actively maintained anymore, however patches are still welcome. If your reported issue is still valid for gio/gvfs, please feel free to file a bug report against glib/gio or gvfs. @Bugzilla mail recipients: query for gnome-vfs-mass-close to get rid of these notification emails all together.
