Description Laurent Bigonville 2006-05-14 01:28:42 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Hi,

When opening an image over an ftp or ssh connection, eog begins to create
thumbnails for the image collection. This may take alot of cpu.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an image using gnomevfs

Actual results:
EOG takes 100% cpu

Expected results:
EOG should not take so much cpu time

Does this happen every time?
yes

Other information:

What you are suggesting is to not load thumbnails on remote images? Maybe this should be an pref option. Or we could just follow the nautilus configuration on thumbnailing. Confirming.
Comment 2 Christoph Brill 2007-09-20 19:06:16 UTC
Nautilus has an option whether or not to create thumbnails on non-local devices. Maybe this option could be reused?

The gconf path is "/apps/nautilus/preferences/show_image_thumbnails" and option "local_only" disables remote thumbnailing.

This bug was reported against a version which is not supported any more. Developers are no longer working on this version so there will not be any bug fixes for it.
Can you please check again if the issue you reported here still happens in a recent version of GNOME and update this report by adding a comment and adjusting the 'Version' field?

Again thank you for reporting this and sorry that it could not be fixed for the version you originally used here.

Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE after 6 weeks.
