Description ndimiduk 2006-05-10 21:48:07 UTC
Distribution: Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre19
Package: Evolution
Priority: Normal
Version: GNOME2.14.1 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Gentoo
Synopsis: Adding contacts from message headers is broken
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Contacts [was: Addressbook]
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem:
When adding an email address from a message header to the contact list,
the new contact is not available immediatly. Evolution must be
restarted before the contact will appear in the contacts list.
Furthermore, until an email address type (Work, Home, or Other) is
explicitly selected, the address will not appear in the listing when
composing new messages (neither the autocomplete nor the multi-select
pane). Specifying the email address type (evening selecting the
default) enables the appearance of the contact in the above listings.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Add an email address to your contacts list by right-clicking on the
email address from a message somewhere in your inbox.
2. Attempt to view the contact in the Contacts listing. It won't be
there, so quite and launch Evolution.
3. Attempt to compose a message to the new contact. The address won't
be avilable. Go back to Contacts (where the card should ne exist) and
specify a type for the email address in question. They should now be
available in the message composer listing.

Actual Results:

Expected Results:
The new contact should be available immediatly both in the Contacts
listing and in the new message composer.

How often does this happen?
Every time.
