Description Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2006-05-01 17:32:07 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1. View (as in inline view or how it's called) a bunch of mails by using the
cursor keys to switch fairly fast... try different delays between message
switching and try it for some time as it doesn't happen instantly most of the time
2. See the UI freezing at "Formatting Message (100%)" or "Verifying Signature
(100%)"

Stack trace:

freeze at formatting message:

(gdb) thread apply all bt

Other information:
This is on latest Ubuntu Dapper with evolution 2.6.1 and evolution-data-server
1.6.1.

The mails are on a IMAP4 server, the connection is over SSL

Ubuntu Bug for this: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/42422

Btw, this happened already with evolution 2.4 and e-d-s 1.4
Comment 2 Sebastien Bacher 2006-05-07 17:37:45 UTC
might be similar to bug #331172 and bug #334872
Comment 3 Jeremy Dinsel 2006-06-05 14:55:35 UTC
Bug 336767 comment 8 mentions a work around that works for me (see also bug 342910 and bug 336821).
Comment 4 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2006-06-05 17:20:11 UTC
This seems to be completely unrelated to those bugs. I had this problem already with glib 2.8, using G_SLICE=always-malloc doesn't change anything and there's a) no segfault and b) no g_slice_alloc() in my backtraces ;)
Comment 5 parthasarathi susarla 2006-07-14 05:27:15 UTC
hey sebastian, could you try disabling the "New Mail Notification" plugin in Edit->Plugins.
I believe that its a dbus issue which is freezing evolution.
Changing to NEEDINFO - please reopen after trying it out.
Comment 6 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2006-07-14 07:54:05 UTC
That didn't change anything, I tried that already in the past. But it seems that 2.7.4 has this bug fixed, at least I don't got any freezes since a few days.
Comment 7 parthasarathi susarla 2006-07-14 08:19:00 UTC
Ah! I will just leave it open. Please use 2.7.4 and check if you have this issue back. We can close it if not.
Thanks for the quick response.
Comment 8 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2006-07-29 23:53:45 UTC
Ok, I never had a freeze again with 2.7.4 so this really seems to be fixed finally :)
