GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 340146
Mathematica causes panel to stop workinng
Last modified: 2006-04-29 20:29:30 UTC
Please describe the problem: Running Mathematica 5.2 causes the panel to stop working. The window menu/selector and show desktop no longer do anything. Right-click on panel still brings up the panel menu, but most functions, such as adding another panel applet, will cause the panel to freeze completely. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start a GNOME session 2. Start Mathematica 5.2 3. Try to use the window menu/selector Actual results: Panel stops working Expected results: Panel should work as normal Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: Using the -noSplashScreen command line option to Mathematica seems to avoid this problem. However, an application splash screen should not cause the panel to break. Reported on Usenet newsgroup comp.soft-sys.math.mathematica by Arturas Acus on April 24, 2006, using version 5.0 of Mathematica.
