Description Olav Vitters 2006-04-20 19:27:37 UTC
The index.cgi shows an image of a bug. It is really ugly and should be replaced with something prettier.

ant

How about about this?
Comment 2 Andrew Sobala 2006-04-20 21:07:43 UTC
Actually, I think you'll find that index.cgi shows a strawberry.
Comment 3 Torsten Schoenfeld 2006-04-20 22:49:52 UTC
A strawberry and four french fries.
Comment 4 Elijah Newren 2006-04-20 23:00:10 UTC
How about http://www.despair.com/beauty.html ?

There's also http://www.despair.com/quality.html and http://www.despair.com/problems.html. Granted, some people may not have sufficiently advanced senses of humor to appreciate such artwork on b.g.o. ;)

devil's coachhorse

I couldn't help but notice that the gnome logo, upside down, resembles a bug. In fact its like my least favourite bug: the devil's coachhorse. Those damn things creep me out. This image combines the two. The gnome logo is this one:
http://www.kde-files.org/content/show.php?content=36536
(making this image gpl too). The coachhorse is based on an image here:
http://www.whatsthatbug.com/images/devils_coachhorse_pool.jpg
I'm no artist though.
Comment 6 Stu Hood 2006-04-21 00:56:32 UTC
Wow, that coachhorse is really vicious looking =x

Nice work, both of you contributors!
Comment 7 Karl Lattimer 2006-04-21 12:39:02 UTC
If that coachhhorse goes on I think I may be too afraid to use bugzilla, its terrifying.

It is a wicked logo, but scary also.

Something warm and cuddly perhaps, not that bugs are warm blooded or have fur, although I may be wrong on both counts.

ladybug maybe?

PS: I have been wondering what that picture on bugzilla was, I thought it was a strawberry also?! It didn't even occur to me it might be a bug of some description... What is it supposed to be?

a ladybug eating a leaf

Heres a lady bug, eating a leaf, which is kinda like fixing bugs. Sort of, in no real way what so ever, more of a metaphor.

Another bug lady attempt

(hi, gnome)
Comment 10 Luis Villa 2006-04-21 16:03:22 UTC
I vote for http://www.despair.com/problems.html :)
Comment 11 Alan Horkan 2006-04-21 22:17:31 UTC
I recommend removing the image entirely. The image doesn't add anything useful, it is only decoration. (For dialup users it just slows things down a little bit extra.) Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.

Someone else commented also suggesting the image be removed or the icon from bug-buddy be used and I like the idea of creating a visual connection between the two.

Ooh, warm and cuddly bugs? Need to take a photo involving Plush Microbes then.

(I own sore throat and stomache ache, if that helps)

;-)

geebee with added third segment

added a third segment in hopes that it will be more like a bug, less like a baby, and just as appealing.

Still, the two segment geebee (attachment 65061 [details]) has a basic g shape to it, which makes it neat that way.

Really like it now. Thanks for listening to the rantings of a crotchety old man ;)

Forgot to close the bug.

Really thanks for all the contributions! Very much appreciated. Now I have enough images to switch it every once in a while :-)
