Description iravid 2006-04-03 10:58:59 UTC
Distribution: Debian testing/unstable
Package: deskbar-applet
Severity: Normal
Version: GNOME2.12.3 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Debian
Synopsis: Order of results does not match order of extensions
Bugzilla-Product: deskbar-applet
Bugzilla-Component: general
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem:
The preferences window says that the order of extensions will determine
the order of results - or so I understand. It appears that the order of
results is not determined by the order of extensions.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Reorder extensions to your liking
2. Type a search
3. Woe and behold as the results are not according to the extension
order

Actual Results: Results are sorted arbitarily. I started noticing this once I enabled the "Web Search" extension, which always appeared first in the list.

Expected Results: The results should be sorted according to the extension
order in the preferences window.

How often does this happen?
Always.

Additional Information: This affects the fact that if you hit "Enter", you'll end up getting the wrong result. Please check what's going wrong, as I love this piece of software. Thank you!

After reading bug #335367 and moving Deskbar to my top panel, I can safely say this only happens when deskbar is on the bottom panel. Thank you.

Ah so this is maybe an ordering problem related to the panel being at bottom..

Mikkel is looking at those problems (iirc)

Can you describe an example of what you are seeing ?
Like the order of handlers, and the order of actual matches ?
Comment 4 iravid 2006-04-07 16:25:16 UTC
Ok, I've tested my problem again, and it seems I was assuming that the most relevant result would appear first in the list (top of the list). The order of the results -does- match the order of the extensions, but the Enter button does not perform the bottom-most result.

So, feel free to mark this bug as duplicate of bug #335367. Sorry for bothering you and thank you for looking into this.
