The good news: I recently moved my wife from iPhoto on OS-X to gthumb, built with Fink, and she's pretty happy with it ... kudos!

The bad news: she is pestering me for a sort-by-comments option.

A proposed patch to implement this feature is pending in bug 356718. Marking this as a duplicate.
