Description Andy Wingo 2006-03-28 14:54:02 UTC
1) ruler too tall
-> there's no need for it to be that large, see http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/features/audio.html and http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/features/editing.html
-> should show time as well on the timeline

2) horizontal scrollbar takes up too much vertical space

I attached a picture with these bugs and references to some other bugs as well.

annotated screenshot of pitivi

Attached a new annotated screenshot. Looking much better, thanks for the improvements. Suggestion for now: hide the square of the timeline table that says "timeline", and the "simple view" option menu, so that the timeline goes across the whole screen. Just for this release or so -- when you introduce the complex timeline later it will be really nice :)

Re: horizontal scrollbar. It would given a cleaner look if the horizontal scrollbar was only shown as needed, and hidden otherwise.
Comment 5 Chris Van Patten 2006-08-17 22:13:17 UTC
Sony Vegas (obviously my favorite editor :P) has the ability to zoom using the horizontal scrollbar. This would make use out of the horizontal scrollbar. I'll boot into Windows and get a screenshot of that function.

http://comitar.com/chris/downloads/zoominvegas.mpg is a video I made of Vegas's zooming with the scrollbar this is an awesome feature and if it could be implemented somehow in Pitivi that'd be killer.
Comment 7 Andy Wingo 2006-08-21 09:12:05 UTC
Nice screencast, looks like an excellent feature!
Comment 8 Edward Hervey 2006-08-21 09:17:26 UTC
but seems really tricky to do with stock GTK+ widgets ... it means creating a completely new widget :(

Hello ed, here is the screencast I made a few days ago and intended to show you. I guess this is the place :)

I can make as much screencasts as you want. This one is quite long (7 minutes, 22mb), but I definitely think we could benefit from setting up a "demo screencasts" place where we could show some interesting features coming from other applications. What do you think?

Hmm, I fear I may be hijacking that thread, so if you want me to create a separate bug out of my previous comment, just tell me

JF, put those ideas/comments/screencasts on the wiki instead.
