Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-03-19 21:43:54 UTC
That bug has been described on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/35463

"When I was using Breezy, I had associated a few program to the "folder" mimetype, so I could select them with a right-click on any folder: cervisia, kdirstat, konqueror, plus a shell script (invoked by gnome-terminal -x script.py ).

Then I upgraded to dapper months ago, and all worked well. Until a few days ago, when something strange happened:

1. some associations have gone, namely the script and kdirstat.

2. Those associations can't be readded.

3. If I right click on a folder and choose properties->open-with, I see that Cervisia is now the default action for folders. THere are only two other choices: "open folder", which should be the default, and konqueror.

4. If I click on "open folder", in order to set a good default, my click is ignored. I can't change the default association in any way."

From one duplicate:

"Please describe the problem:
In shared-mime-info 0.17 the alias x-directory/normal for inode/directory was
added. This breaks the associations for the directory type in nautilus 2.14.0.
Previously with shared-mime-info 0.16 you could associate directories with
applications and open them using the "Open With" menu. Removing this alias from
freedesktop.xml reenables this.

This was also reported here:

Comment 6 Cosimo Cecchi 2008-01-20 01:04:06 UTC
This is not reproducible anymore with 2.21.5. Closing as OBSOLETE, feel free to reopen the bug if you still find this issue with latest releases of Nautilus. Thanks.
