Description James 2006-03-04 22:23:50 UTC
Some movies I have have black bars on the top and bottom. It would be nice if totem had a filter to remove those bars, much like how the deinterlace filter works.

I think this could be done by detected the black bars on top and bottom (and sometimes even left to right), and automatically cropping the picture so the black bars aren't displayed. This would really help users with 16:9 screens.

You can already zoom in and out with the xine-lib backend.
Comment 2 James 2006-03-05 01:13:36 UTC
VLC is able to do this through a video filter.
Comment 3 Sergej Kotliar 2006-03-05 19:41:22 UTC
Sounds like a good feature!
Also - as a side effect, it'd make movie thumbnails more distinctive ;-)
Comment 4 Bastien Nocera 2006-09-04 10:23:27 UTC
Closing as a dupe against the GStreamer support for zooming. bug #144932 to add support for post-processing plugins might also be relevant.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.
