Description John Richard Moser 2006-02-24 18:29:13 UTC
How about a video input capture source for the desktop? I would like to record
my desktop, but can't get programs like xvidrec to work. Besides, programs like
Ekiga or Gnome Meeting or Pitivi should have a way to record the desktop; what
if I want to demonstrate software over video conference, or want to record
desktop tutorial vids? There are many useful applications for desktop recording.

Sounds like you want ximagesrc, which has recently been ported to GStreamer 0.10 (in gst-plugins-bad CVS now).

Check out istanbul and byzanz for desktop recording solutions (the former is based on GStreamer, but I don't know if it's been ported to 0.10 yet).
