GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 330519
"Save As" Dialog Loses Filename When Creating New Folder
Last modified: 2006-02-09 15:52:50 UTC
Please describe the problem: When I use the "Save As" dialog, I sometimes create a new folder to save the new file in, or type the name of the folder to more quickly find a location. However, after I create the new folder, the "Save As" dialog will always clear the "Name" field, forcing me to manually re-enter the filename, which can be difficult to remember if it was a particularly long filename. Dynamically auto-selecting a folder by typing the folder name also appears to clear the "Name" field. Intuitively, entering a folder name, whether to create or select a folder, should not effect the name of the new file. Steps to reproduce: 1. Use the "Save As" feature in any application that supports it. 2. Click "Browse other folders" and click on "Create Folder". 3. Type a new folder name and press enter. Actual results: The "Name field in the "Save As" dialog will be cleared. Expected results: A new folder should be created or selected without clearing the file name. Does this happen every time? Yes.
