GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 329328
No need of a Folder Tree when we want to add a new folder
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:51:46 UTC
Please describe the problem: I think there is no need of displaying the folder tree when a user wants to add a new folder. The Place where he right clicks in itself is self-explanatory as to where he wants to add a new folder. Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: user should be prompted for the name of folder at the place where the folder is to be created. Does this happen every time? Other information: If we do this there is no need to fix bug#317466 further.
no, as there are enough users out there which do not understand that they have to click on the *root* folder of the place where the new folder should be created. do not expect every user to be a poweruser(TM). :-) the root folder should be preselected, though.
there are other ways (other than right-click) that a user can open the "Create Folder" dialog - the filter editor and via main menus/toolbar buttons. You can't make those operate by creating the folder as a subfolder of whatever folder is selected in the main tree.
ranjan, comments? to me this is notabug or wontfix. at least setting to needinfo.
Agreed to comment 2. The selected folder already is preselected in the dialog as parent folder. NOTABUG, but a design choice.
