GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 326420
Book layout

Would be great if F-Spot would have a "Create photo book" function. Something like in Aperture: http://www.apple.com/aperture/quicktours/ (Versatile Printing and Publishing) This would be great to create a small album of the latest vacation trip, a yearbook, Record of the first 20 years of the children etc. Possible workflow: 1) Select the photos you want to be published, and attach a special temporary book /work tag to them 2) Select one of a number of predefined book layouts 3) Drag and drop pictures from a grid to a particular spot in the book. 4) Resize/move the pictures as needed in the book until you are happy. 5) Possibility to add/remove/resize picture slots from each page 4) Add text and format text (resizable text area (one per page, row, column, photo for instance) 5) Select which XMP/EXIF tags should be printed for each picture. 6) Pick a photo as a background for the whole page 7) Save as PDF, or print directly. Or export to a printing company. Perhaps an auto fill mode, where F-Spot automatically choose which pictures goes on which page according to the photos timestamp. If a separate software should do this, then the end user should not really notice this.
One extra possible use for this would be a calender (Bug #331961)
Closing this one, as it should probably be implemented as a separate project which reads F-Spots database...
