Description Waldo 2005-12-19 05:54:43 UTC
Please describe the problem:
gnome-session-save throws up a "Your session has been saved" dialog, regardless
of whether or not the --gui flag is specified.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to the terminal.
2. type "gnome-session save" (without --gui)
3. Observe that you get a dialog that says "Information: Your session has been
saved".
4. Be upset about it.

Actual results:
The unwanted dialog appears.

Expected results:
I would expect a dialog box only when --gui is specified

Does this happen every time?
Yes, when run from the terminal.

Other information:
I am experiencing also a bug that may be related to this. Bug 316037 - That is
a problem where I get the "Your session has been saved" dialog THE FIRST TIME I
try to log out from the Desktop->Logout menu item. The second time, after the
session is saved, I do not get the dialog. (This happens regardless of whether
or not gnome-session has been configured to save sessions on log out)

I can confirm this with Gnome 2.12.0 on Gentoo.

See bug 118091 for some musings about the --gui option.
