GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 321577
gtk file chooser should display nautilus emblems for consistency
Last modified: 2005-11-16 11:02:56 UTC
Distribution/Version: Gentoo if you put a "cool" emblem on one folder to ease your view when you look on a long list of folders/files, so you can quickly find it, it doesnt shows up in gtk file chooser, but only in nautilus. WHY: there are several users like me that really make use of emblems, and to have them displayed on gtk file chooser would really change our lives :-) PROBLEM 1: i know it has some drawbacks thought: it would make things slower. but then it could be just some thread on the background putting the emblems on the folders as it goes by, without blocking the user. i think windows explorer has some kind of thread in it too for this type of thing. PROBLEM 2: anyway, there is another thing: some people put more than one emblem in one folder/file (I do, for example, but the "documents" emblem and a "coffee" emblem in folder "java docs", it's really slick and make people jealous of my gnome desktop!). so there is the problem of where to put theses already small pictures on the small folder picture that appears in gtk file chooser. well, it could show just one emblem picture (of the first emblem)... or... who knows, maybe you guys have something very clever in mind. :-)
Created attachment 54817 [details] example screenshot this will blow away any file dialog out there! there should by at least be an option in gconf for showing those pretty little and amazing emblems!
Nautilus in list view already show emblems quite neatly, and in the same format as the filechooser uses. So it's possible for sure. Anyways, this bug has already been filed - check out bug 145524. Please add you thoughts to that bug! Cheers Sigge *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 145524 ***
