Description Francois 2005-10-04 09:34:12 UTC
Distribution/Version: xp, 2000

Hi

This I suppose is not quite a BUG in the real sense, but it still limits the
use of the GIMP. I often have to work with really big TIFF files (200meg -
200gig satelite). The Gimp seem to open up the TIFF from it's compressed state
and then use up all resources of the machine causing the GIMP to crash. When I
use a program such as Adobe Photoshop, it seems to keep the image in it's
compressed state and I don't have this problem.

I was hoping there is a way this could also be implemented in the Gimp.

Many thanks

Francois

There are ways but someone needs to implement them.
