GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 316869
Save As dialog forgets filename when using find as you type in "Browse other folders".
Last modified: 2005-11-01 18:11:17 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu Breezy Badger 1. Try to save something (ie. use Save As in web browser) 2. Click "Browse for other folders" 3. Focus the folder browsing widget 4. Start typing 5. Boof! The filename is gone. This isn't the behaviour expected. You would think the actual filename would be overriden after the user has selected already existing file. I use the find as you type feature for finding the wanted folder. This is very handy feature when there are lots of folders. I find this behaviour unwanted therefore a bug.
This is closely related to: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16115 (if not the same issue) The problem occurs in the gnome Save As dialogue, tested in both Gedit and Firefox. When saving a file, if I create a directory with Create Folder, when I change into the new directory the Name of the file disappears. This means I have to type in what I want to call it (inaccurate) or I have to close the dialogue, go back to Save As, navigate to the new folder (closing the dialogue didn't save my new position in the filesystem) and save it again, with the correct file name.
There are two very similiar bugs that should be fixed. 1. Filename disappear when typing in browsing widget 2. Filename disappear when you create new folder This bugs are probably easy to fix, and should be fixed very soon because they are very odd and are in component that is base in GUI so it should be polished as it only can be :) Also valid for libgnomeui-2.10.0
