GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 316303
Save dialog forgets file name on directory create
Last modified: 2005-11-01 20:16:34 UTC
When creating a directory in the save dialog the file name gets cleared. Steps to reproduce: Try to save a page from a gnome application. Click on Browser for other folders. Press the Create Folder button. Enter a name for this folder, and watch the file name disappear when confirming that name (by pressing enter for example). This is not desired when trying to save a file in a new directory. And its also happens with gtk 2.6 + gnome 2.10. Other information:
This is a ugly one! Every time I want to save a file and think about creating a new folder for it because some other files may follow, I have to create the folder in a terminal or create it via the gnome-file-chooser, abort and click on save again to get the filename back. Very annoying.

Federico are you sure that this is a duplicate? In bug report of 308332 I can read: "clear the file name entry only if we are in CREATE_FOLDER mode" "the user starts typeahead in the treeview, and we don't want to clear the file name entry in that case" As you can see only in typeahead case file won't be clear, what about when you are in CREATE_FOLDER mode? As I understood CREATE_FOLDER mode is when you "Press the Create Folder button."? If so, then THIS bug isn't dup and also isn't fixed because of: "Press the Create Folder button. Enter a name for this folder, and watch the file name disappear when confirming that name (by pressing enter for example)."
