Description David Hugh-Jones 2005-09-12 09:51:34 UTC
Distribution/Version: debian

(1) Mount a volume such as a USB storage device
(2) Fill it with junk
(3) Delete the junk from within Nautilus (ie move to trash)
(4) Attempt to put new stuff on the volume

The problem is that Nautilus is storing the trash on the removable volume. This
is unexpected (to me at least). I had to drop to bash and delete .trash-dhughj
before I could put more stuff on my disk. My Mum wouldn't know how to do that,
so at this point she would be stuck.

The obvious fix to me would be that trash should be in one location, but I
assume this is a design decision taken for reasons that I don't know of. Failing
that, maybe there should be a visible Trash folder in removable media?
