GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 315158
Widgets disappear.
Last modified: 2005-12-21 06:55:32 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu Whenever I return to my computer after a longer absence, like 2 hours, some applications are missing widgets. bug 314457 comment 2 and bug 314457 comment 3 has some more information. I'm sorry I don't have more information, but I'm not sure how to obtain more ... I'm not sure this is the right product/component, or if it's even possible to tell yet. Running Ubuntu Breezy updated daily, the bug has been present for about a week that I have noticed. Currently running XOrg Ubuntu 6.8.2-56 20050901063948 and clearlooks 2.6.5-0ubuntu1. Maybe I should try running with a different theme engine for a few days as a test? Please provide test pointers. I'm marking this Urgent because frankly, applications without widgets aren't really usable at all.
Sorry, I should've repeated the information from bug 314457 here: the widgets aren't really gone; they appear again when you hover over them if they have a mouseover effect, or when you click them if they have a hitbox. So it would seem they are not being redrawn when they should be.
The widgets also reappear if I use another window as a brush and "paint" over the missing widgets.
The cited bugs seem to indicate that this was due to inotify/gamin problems which have been fixed.
