Description Michael Monreal 2005-08-01 23:19:08 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu Breezy

Nautilus now uses a navigation model using a pathbar, very similar to the GTK
filechooser. But unlike GTK, nautilus doesn't pup up a dialog when pressing
<ctrl>+<l>, it just swaps the pathbar for a location bar. Using it for a few
weeks now, all I can say that it feels very natural and doesn't interrupt the
work folow, would be nice if GTK would follow Nautilus here and got rid of the
popup dialog, too.

mockup

First pic shows the file chooser like it is now, second one shows how it would
look like with integrated location bar, after pressing <ctrl>+<l>

Also, bug #158694 seems to be interesting here... Nautilus also shows the
current path and would now actually make sense, as the path in the location
entry is just another way to display the current folder.

Please see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136541#c51 as that is
exactly the plan.
