Version details: Debian version: gnumeric-1.5.2-1 on PPC
Distribution/Version: Debian (Sarge) w/ Unstable Gnome/Gnumeric Packages

1. Create a bar chart with multiple series.
2. Assign a different pattern to each series.
3. Set the color for each series to black on white.
4. Export to SVG.
5. Load the SVG file with inkscape.
6. Observe that all of the bars are solid black regardless 
   of what series they're part of.
