Description Stian Jordet 2005-07-02 16:08:12 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I get tons and tons of this in my log when I'm ripping:

[4317585.581000] sg_write: data in/out 30576/30576 bytes for SCSI command
0xbe--guessing data in;
[4317585.581000]    program sound-juicer not setting count and/or reply_len properly
[4317590.585000] printk: 203 messages suppressed.
[4317590.585000] sg_write: data in/out 30576/30576 bytes for SCSI command
0xbe--guessing data in;
[4317590.585000]    program sound-juicer not setting count and/or reply_len properly
[4317595.588000] printk: 202 messages suppressed.

[and so on forever...]

I have something as seldom as a scsi cd-writer, so I guess that's related. This
is not new with SJ 2.11.x, have had it earlier, just never reported it.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert CD
2. Start SJ
3. Rip :P

Actual results:
I get lots of errors in my syslog.

Expected results:
No error in my syslog

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Comment 1 Ross Burton 2005-07-02 16:32:05 UTC
SJ doesn't do any direct disk access, this is a gst-plugins bug in the
cdparanoia element, although its probably in libcdparanoia itself and not the
GStreamer code.

http://seclists.org/lists/linux-kernel/2005/Jul/1513.html tells me it is indeed
a cdparanoia issue, so a new release there or a kernel message suppression would
be best. Marking NOTGNOME, since it's not our problem.
