GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 309114
QIF import: Currency mismatch should give error mesage
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:52:39 UTC
When upgrading linux, my default currency went back to USD... but I didn't know. The first I knew was when I was importing QIF files (now in default USD into an AUD account system)... I was given no error message, instead all my accounts (including unspecified) were duplicated with the message "QIF Import: Name conflicts with another account" which was not very helpful in this instance... and the suggestions of gnucash user did not diagnose the problem. I had to read the source to figure it out. Hence I suggest that if there is a conflict causing the transactions to go into a new account, that a quick little error message comes up to explain that there is a conflict of transaction type preventing the transactions from being imported into the suggested account. Alternatively if the new account name was something like unspecified_USD then this would give a hint! Thanks for gnucash, its great for a beginner like me to learn... but this one I found difficult! Does this problem still occur with a 2.0.x version? (I suppose it does.)
